Nail
Fungus (Onychomycosis)
Onychomycosis or nail fungus
means fungal infection of the nail. The prevalence of onychomycosis is
about 6-8% in the adult population. These infections are underneath the
surface of the nail and may
also penetrate the nail. Symptoms can
include discoloration, brittleness, loosening, thickening, or crumbling
of the nail. In the past conventional treatments have included Oral &
Topical Prescriptions which have not provided consistent effective
treatment results and/or have negative side effects. Recently the FDA
has approved a new highly effective Laser Treatment for nail fungus.
Dr Dickerson is one of the only doctors in Utah to
provide the

Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammation of the plantar fascia (thick
connective tissue on the bottom of the foot). It can be caused by
overuse of the plantar fascia, arch problems, obesity, poor shoe
quality, and other factors. Symptoms include pain, stiffness, aching,
and/or burning in the bottom of the heel. These symptoms are usually
worse first thing in the morning, after standing or sitting for a while,
or after intense activity. In the past conventional treatments have
included Anti-inflammatory and pain medicines, rest, applying ice, and
changes in shoe gear. Recently a new procedure has been developed to
provide quick and lasting pain relief.
This new procedure is the Tenex FAST Procedure. It is a simple, quick,
and effective treatment option for Plantar Fasciitis that provides Fast
results. For more information on this procedure or
to schedule a consultation please call us at (801) 265-0600.
Bunions (Hallux Valgus)
A Bunion is a deformity where the big toe points toward the other toes
and the outside of the foot. This causes a bump to appear on the inside
of the foot near your big toe. Bunions are more common in women, can be
partially due to genetics, and are mostly caused by wearing narrow toed
and/or high healed shows. Treatment for bunions range from conservative
methods such as changing shoe gear and using orthotics which can provide
some pain relief to corrective surgery depending on the severity of the
bunion.
Dr Dickerson has years of experience treating
bunions by specific treatment methods for each patient’s needs.
He also
participates in a research program where participates that do require
surgery may receive surgery at little or no cost.

of hammer toes are poor fitting shoes where the toe is forced into a
bent position. Dr Dickerson has years of experience treating hammer toes
and can provide specific treatment options for all levels of hammer toe
deformity.
